Storytelling Session

You are invited by artist Ratu R. Saraswati to listen, as she shares a parable story she wrote that touches on trauma response embodied in individuals in our postcolonial condition, echoes of grief and violence in the natural landscape, and the search for hope. Accompanied by film footage shot in Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Netherlands, the spoken word performance ‘Parable of the Storm’s Descent’ uses the ancestral storytelling method parables. This old form of narrative helps the artist to reflect upon stories of grieving from the perspective of diaspora and migration.
