Beeingness (EN)

Jessica Segall

Zzzzzzz is an interactive sculpture and meditative experience: custom architecture designed for both honeybees and humans to co-inhabit. Two to four people can relax inside, while listening to the sounds of active hives below the benches, or it can be restful at night when both humans and honeybees are asleep. A roof garden of pollinator plants is placed atop the structure, nurturing the bees.

Zzzzzzz is co-built and designed with and for the inhabitants of Ruigoord, with consideration for the local community of human and non-human beings,

Zzzzzzz affects not only the declining insect populations and our relationship with nature as consumers and urban dwellers, but also the trust and our contractual relationship to each other in a network of overlapping intimacies.

Zzzzzzz is an optimistic act of engagement in a time of ecological crises when new means for cohabitation and stewardship are needed.

There will be daily experiential walks with artist Jessica Segall to the pavilion, during which she will share her research and invite you to take part in this meditative experience.
