Jinny Thielsch

Deze fototentoonstelling van 50 jaar Ruigoord is te zien in een gigantische houten spiraal, op het grote veld achter de kerk. Ruigoord is niet achter de tekentafel bedacht, maar toevallig ontstaan en op organische wijze en exponentieel gegroeid tot wat het nu is. Daarom heeft deze spiraal de vorm van de Fibonaccireeks en de Gulden snede: een wiskundige formule die je terugziet in groeiprocessen in de natuur. Het komt voor in het allerkleinste, zoals een DNA streng of de vorm van een slakkenhuis, tot het allergrootste; de vorm van de melkweg.

Het middelpunt van de spiraal laat de begintijd zien, al draaiende naar buiten ga je steeds meer naar het heden. Aan de buitenzijde komen de festivals, de evenementen, de reizen en de directe omgeving van Ruigoord in beeld. De vormgeving volgt Ruigoord, die vanuit epicentrum een cirkel van uitbreidende creativiteit is, met samenwerkingen naar hoeken over de hele aarde.

In De Omarming, de cirkel eromheen, staan in de binnenrand allerlei mensen geportretteerd onder het bord Fortuna Favet Fatuis, dat boven de kerkdeur hangt. Dit betekent ‘het Geluk is met de Dwazen’. De kaart de Dwaas in de Tarot gaat over iemand, die spontaan, onbevangen en dapper is en die een heldhaftige reis onderneemt: het verhaal van Ruigoord. Aan de buitenrand van de cirkel zie je portretten van allerlei bezoekers. Want wat zou Ruigoord zijn zonder alle mensen die dit dorp omarmen?

This photography exhibition of 50 years of Ruigoord is on display in a giant wooden spiral, on the large field behind the church. Ruigoord was not conceived behind the drawing board, but was created by chance and grew organically and exponentially into what it is today. That is why this spiral has the shape of the Fibonacci series and the Golden Ratio: a mathematical formula that you see reflected in growth processes in nature. It occurs in the very smallest, such as a DNA strand or the shape of a snail shell, to the very largest; the shape of the Milky Way.

The center of the spiral shows the early days, as you turn outward you move more and more into the present. On the outside, the festivals, events, trips and the immediate surroundings of Ruigoord come into focus. The design follows Ruigoord, which from epicenter is a circle of expanding creativity, with collaborations to corners all over the earth.

In De Omarming, the circle around it, the inner border features all kinds of people portrayed under the sign Fortuna Favet Fatuis, which hangs above the church door. This means “Happiness is with the Fools.” The card the Fool in the Tarot is about someone, who is spontaneous, open-minded and brave, who undertakes a heroic journey: the story of Ruigoord. On the outer edge of the circle you see portraits of all kinds of visitors. For what would Ruigoord be without all the people who embrace this village?
