Educatie
Educatie is een wezenlijk onderdeel van RE_NATURE. We willen de nieuwe generatie actief en duurzaam betrekken bij de thematiek. RE_GENERATION is de term die we gebruiken voor onze samenwerkingsverbanden met het onderwijs. RE_GENERATION staat voor de jonge generatie die we van belang achten voor het doorvoeren van een nieuw systeem. De generatie van onder andere Greta Thunberg en Extinction Rebellion. Actief, bewust, strijdlustig, klaar om het verdriet en de zorgen aan te kijken, maar ook om te strijden voor verbetering.
In 2020 realiseerde Imke Ruigrok de onderwijsmodule FUTURE HEALTH, WITH NATURE voor de opleiding Crossover Creativity aan de Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht. Jasper Udink ten Cate (Creative Chef) en de Onkruidenier waren gastdocent. Een resultaat van deze module is de restaurant-ervaring van WIER tijdens RE_NATURE.
In 2021 volgde er een module voor de Master Future Ecologies op St. Joost School of Arts & Design Den Bosch, waar kunstenaar Jasper Griepink op uitnodiging van RE_NATURE het programma leidde. Ook vond een Module Bio Art plaats op de Hogeschool voor de Kunsten vanuit de onderzoeksgroep HKU Expertise Centre for Creative Technology i.s.m. RE_NATURE. Beide studentengroepen presenteren hun werk op het festival.
In het najaar van 2021 volgden er projecten en samenwerkingsverbanden met een atelier op het (V)MBO Willem I college in Den Bosch, te zien in Huis ‘73, met het Studium Generale programma van de KABK Den Haag, en een samenwerking tussen de Indonesische kunstenaar Arahmaiani met de Universiteit van Utrecht en het Amsterdam Museum.
Deze trajecten brachten, behalve veel nieuwe kennis, ook een platform om met de jonge generatie te werken en hen te betrekken en activeren bij de ecologische problematiek. In gesprek en in ontwikkeling vinden we nieuwe manieren om verhalen te delen en elkaar betrokken en scherp te houden.
2024 – ART & ECOLOGY / Kunst & Ecologie
Voor het 2024 RE_NATURE Festival werkten we samen met de Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht met de minorgroep BioArt en hun nieuwe minor Kunst & Ecologie. Studenten van de minorgroep BIoArt realiseerden (nieuwe) kunstprojecten voor het RE_NATURE Festival. Ook werkten we samen met de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam met hun master Environmental Humanities.
Het festival openden we met de mini conferentie ‘Art & Ecology’. Een samenwerking met de Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht en Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, en o.a. de lezing ‘Metropolitan Nature’ van de Italiaanse filosoof Emanuele Coccia.
Kunst & Ecologie
Er wordt besproken waarom en hoe ecologie binnen kunst, humanistiek en wetenschap een rol speelt en vooral hoe deze velden en praktijken elkaar steeds meer ontmoeten. Kunst & ecologie ontmoeten elkaar niet alleen in het RE NATURE festival, maar ook in de nieuwe minor van de HKU met de gelijknamige titel, en de master Environmental Humanities aan de Vrije Universiteit.
“Van hoofd, naar hart en handen”, zo noemt Henry de la Croix de beweging die we maken tijdens de ceremonie van Shaz & The Medicine Man bij het openingsprogramma. Dit werd gevolgd door de lezing ‘Metropolitan Nature’ van de Italiaanse filosoof Emanuele Coccia (auteur van o.a. Life of Plants), gevolgd door een variatie aan workshops. De afsluitende lezing van de middag was ‘Rechten voor Natuur’ door Jessica den Outer.

Education
Education is an essential part of RE_NATURE. We want to actively and sustainably involve the new generation. RE_GENERATION is the term we use for our partnerships with educational institutions. RE_GENERATION stands for the young generation that we consider important for the implementation of a new system. The generation of Greta Thunberg, Extinction Rebellion, and others like them. They are active, aware, ready to take action, ready to face sadness and concern, but also to fight for improvement.
Imke Ruigrok developed the educational module FUTURE HEALTH, WITH NATURE for the Crossover Creativity programme at Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht in 2020. Jasper Udink ten Cate (Creative Chef) and de Onkruidenier were guest lecturers. A result of this module is the WIER restaurant experience during RE_NATURE.
This was followed by a module for the Master’s in Future Ecologies at St. Joost School of Arts & Design Den Bosch, where artist Jasper Griepink led the programme at the invitation of RE_NATURE. A Module Bio Art also took place at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten from the research group HKU Expertise Centre for Creative Technology in collaboration with RE_NATURE. Both student groups will present their work at the festival.
This was followed in the autumn of 2021 by projects and collaborations with a studio at the (V)MBO Willem I College in Den Bosch, to be seen in Huis ’73, with the Studium Generale programme of the KABK The Hague, and a collaboration between the Indonesian artist Arahmaiani with Utrecht University and Amsterdam Museum.
These projects not only brought a lot of new knowledge, but also a platform to work with the younger generation and to involve and mobilize them for ecological issues. Through conversation and development, we find new ways to share stories and keep each other engaged and focused.
2024 – ART & ECOLOGY
For the 2024 edition of the RE_NATURE Festival, we worked together with Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht with the minor group BioArt and their new minor Art & Ecology. Students of the minor group BIoArt created (new) art projects for the RE_NATURE Festival. We also collaborated with Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and their master Environmental Humanities.
The festival began with a small conference called ‘Art & Ecology’. A collaboration with the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, with a.o. the lecture ‘Metropolitan Nature’ by the Italian philosopher Emanuele Coccia.
Art & Ecology
It discusses why and how ecology plays a role within art, humanism and science and how these fields and practices are increasingly coming together. Art and ecology not only meet each other at the RE NATURE Festival, but also in the new minor of the HKU with the identical name, and the master Environmental Humanities at the VU.
“From head to heart to hands”, Henry de la Croix calls the motion we make during the ceremony by Shaz & The Medicine Man at the opening program. This was succeeded by the lecture ‘Metropolitan Nature’ by the Italian philosopher Emanuele Coccia (author of a.o. Life of Plants), followed by multiple workshops. The concluding lecture was ‘Rechten voor Natuur’ by Jessica den Outer.
