De Masterstudenten van MIVC van St. Joost School of Art & Design presenteren hun werk als onderdeel van RE_NATURE. De module The Community of All Beings vroeg de studenten om op onderzoek te gaan en om visualisaties te maken waarin het leven van de mens niet centraal staat. Er werd gekeken naar toekomstscenario’s, indigenous languages, animisme, eco-spiritualiteit en de more-than-human.
Met gastdocenten zoals Chihiro Geuzebroek en teksten van ecoloog Robin Wall Kimmerer werden relaties tussen mens en ‘natuur’ bekeken, en ook werden stenen, dieren, en onzichtbare wezens geadresseerd. Want, volgens Griepink, moeten wij onze systemen hervormen zodat de wijsheid en zienswijze van vaak gemarginaliseerde en of anderszins ‘verdwenen’ levens- & zienswijzen weer betrokken worden in het geheel.
Door middel van schrijfopdrachten en Griepink’s langlopende onderzoek rondom The Future Field ontstonden er verschillende onderzoeksprojecten en prototypes waarvan er een aantal op RE_NATURE worden getoont in de vorm van films, audiowerk, speculatieve gebruiksvoorwerpen en workshops.

The MIVC Master’s students from St. Joost School of Art & Design present their work as part of RE_NATURE. The Community of All Beings module asked the students to research and create visualizations that did not focus on human life. It looked at future scenarios, indigenous languages, animism, eco-spirituality, and the more-than-human.
With guest lecturers such as Chihiro Geuzebroek and texts by ecologist Robin Wall Kimmerer, relationships between humans and “nature” were examined, and stones, animals, and invisible creatures were also addressed. Because, in Griepink’s opinion, we need to reform our systems so that the wisdom and views of often marginalized or otherwise “extinct” ways of living and seeing are once again included in the whole.
Through written assignments and Griepink’s long-term research into The Future Field, various research projects and prototypes were created, some of which will be shown at RE_NATURE in the form of films, audio work, speculative objects, and workshops.
