De Onkruidenier

Met CryptoFoam onderzoekt de Onkruidenier onze verhouding tot het lokale landschap van het fabrieksterrein op de Tramkade en vervlechten ze ecologie en economie tot een nieuw waardesysteem. Met het sluiten van de veevoer mengfabriek is een zichtbare schakel uit de mondiale voedsel en landbouw kringloop van de bio-industrie in de stad verdwenen. De distributie van veevoer vindt daarentegen nog steeds plaats. Wat zijn de zichtbare en onzichtbare verstrengelingen van deze schakel in het voedselsysteem en hoe kan dit op deze locatie nog ervaren worden?  

CryptoFoam bevraagt huidige waardesystemen rondom voedsel en landbouw en gaat op zoek naar nieuwe verhoudingen tussen ecologie en economie. Waar ooit schelpen werden gebruikt als munteenheid, vraagt de Onkruidenier zich af wat voor munteenheid een vluchtig proces als schuim zou kunnen zijn. Het werk bestaat uit een serie objecten op specifiek gekozen locaties op het terrein van de Tramkade dat in een wandeling kan worden ervaren. De Onkruidenier daagt het publiek uit om bij CryptoFoam de transacties rondom schuim onder ogen te komen. 

With CryptoFoam, de Onkruidenier investigates our relationship with the local landscape of the Tramkade factory site and blends ecology and economy into a new value system. With the closure of the cattle feed mixing plant, a visible link in the global food and agricultural cycle of the bio-industry has disappeared in the city. The distribution of cattle feed, on the other hand, is still taking place. What are the visible and invisible connections of this link in the food system and how can this still be experienced at this location? 

CryptoFoam questions current food and agriculture value systems and searches for new relationships between ecology and economy. Where seashells were once used as currency, de Onkruidenier wonders what currency a volatile process like foam could be. The work consists of a series of objects at specifically chosen locations on the Tramkade site which can be viewed during a walk. De Onkruidenier challenges the audience to face the transactions involving foam at the CryptoFoam.
